Not losing is not an option. The Nobel laureates called on the international community to change its rhetoric and do everything necessary for Ukraine namely to win the war, instead of “not to lose”. For this purpose, timely and sufficient assistance is needed.

An open letter of scientists was published yesterday. It has been already signed by 40 Nobel Prize winners and about 300 representatives of the intellectual elite from around the world. The collection of signatures is going on.

The scientists are concerned that the world is under the illusion that the aggressor can be appeased, just like it was at the beginning of World War II. The signatories call to prevent a repetition of Munich-1938.

In the third year of a full-scale war, it is already definitively clear: “Putin’s regime is a clear and immediate threat to humanity.”

Therefore, the Nobel laureates call to refuse from the legitimization of the elections held in Russia and send a final clear message: Putin is no longer a partner for the world.

Among the signatories are two laureates of Ukrainian origin: Oleksandra Matviichuk (Nobel Peace Prize, 2022) and Roald Hoffman (Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 1981).
