The global economy will grow by no more than 2.8–2.9% in 2022

At the beginning of the year, a few days before russia’s invasion of Ukraine, leading financial and analytical structures predicted global economic growth within 3.9–4.1%. Compared to last year’s 5.7%, this, of course, was a slowdown, but on February 24 even those modest figures were crossed out.

According to the war-adjusted data, the global economy will grow by no more than 2.8–2.9% in 2022. In absolute terms, according to the latest report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, we are talking about a loss of at least $1 trillion. This is provided that the war lasts until the end of the year. If it goes on into 2023, no one can yet predict how much it will cost the global economy.
