The founded by Albert Einstein Hebrew University of Jerusalem has raised $650,000 for Ukrainian students
The initiative of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will allow many Ukrainian students who fled their homes because of the war to study at one of the best universities in the world. The university raised $650,000 for a scholarship program for Ukrainians.
The Hebrew University is the oldest institution of higher education in Israel, founded in 1925. Among its founders were Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud, and for five out of 12 Israelis — Nobel Prize winners it was namely the Hebrew University that was their alma mater.
Its authority in the academic world is evidenced by the fact that all of Einstein’s works are stored here, in Jerusalem, according to the will of the author of the theory of relativity himself. Until 2005, the Hebrew University also owned the rights to the commercial use of Einstein’s image, until it passed into the public domain.
Now Ukrainians will also be able to study within the walls of the famous university, who, perhaps, will add to the list of Nobel laureates in the future.
This is not the only initiative of the Israeli universities. 7 girls from Ukraine have recently become students of Tel Aviv University, and the Bar-Ilan International School program has provided such an opportunity for 10 boys.
