There is a time lapse of one year between these photos.

In early March 2022, the world media published an appeal from the residents of the Kyiv shelter for elderly Jews that they had made from a bomb shelter. The elderly survivors of World War II, who had to flee the bombing once again, minced no words when speaking out against Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

The center for compact residence of the aged Jews is a project of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine. The elderly have been living here on full support since 2003. Last year, on March 8, they had to be evacuated.

At the beginning of June, the residents of the Center returned to Kyiv. On the eve of Purim 2023, they took a new group photo.

Purim is celebrated in honor of the victory over Haman, who wanted to exterminate all Jews in Persia in the 5th century B.C. Purim for Jews is a symbol of the victory of good over evil.

Chag Purim Sameach!
