In Israel, rose wine of the harvest 2022 was named Kostia, after Kostiantyn Mrochko from Volyn.

Kostiantyn planted the vine, from which this Kostia Rose wine is produced, several years ago in the vineyard of Lev-Adam organic farm in Bat Shlomo near Haifa. He had been working there for more than four years and in that time, as Lev-Adam writes, he managed to become “a pillar of the farm, a man admired by everyone, and he, in turn, admired the people of Israel.”

Last year, Kostiantyn planned to harvest his vine for the first time, but the farm workers had to do it without him. On February 24, 2022, he went to the front as a volunteer. A few days later, on March 8, he was killed in the battle of Makariv during the defense of Kyiv.

Kostiantyn fought in the Russia-Ukraine war from its first days. In 2014 he was near Ilovaisk, and in 2015 near Debaltsevo his tank led a convoy of military vehicles out of encirclement by leading it through a minefield.

Kostiantyn Mrochko was posthumously honored with the Order of the Gold Star with the title of the Hero of Ukraine.
