Germany is going to deploy its own sovereign cloud
Without waiting for the implementation of the project to create a pan-European cloud data storage GAIA-X, Germany, which initiated the creation of GAIA-X together with France, is going to deploy its own sovereign cloud to meet the needs of the automotive industry, healthcare and the public sector.
Although at first it was planned to provide completely autonomous access to the data of German structures and to exclude the participation of large American companies, Germany could not do without their participation in the new project in the end. The German cloud will be operated by T-Systems, owned by Deutsche Telekom, but Google, which is also investing $1.2bn in the creation of a sovereign cloud structure in Germany, will also act as a partner.
The German side says that Google Cloud will be physically separated in the structure of the new cloud, and the maximum protection of data will be provided for the clients of the storage.
In the future, similar sovereign clouds are also planned to be deployed in Austria and Switzerland.
