Completion of work on the animated film “Mavka. The Forest Song” is expected only at the end of the year, but film distribution companies from more than 20 countries have expressed their desire to run the cartoon based on Lesya Ukrainka’s Forest Song.

Not so long ago, Universal Pictures Content Group has been added to this list. The company, the leader of the global distribution market, has bought the rights to dub and show Mavka in France and all French-speaking countries.

The film produced by Animagrad (Film.ua Group) was presented at the Animation Day in Cannes at the end of May. The number of applications received from distributors during a month and a half shows the great potential of Mavka as a successful commercial project. I congratulate the founder of Film.ua Serhii Sozanovskyi, whom I have known for many years: in 2015 we worked together on the film “Airport” about cyborgs — the defenders of the Donetsk airport and more than once discussed projects for the development of the Ukrainian film industry and co-production, not only creative, but also economic.

For many countries, film production of any format — feature and documentary films, series, animation — is a tangible component of national economies. For Ukraine, the production of video content can become one of the drivers of economic development. The success of Mavka proves it.
