Distribution of the movie Golda in cinemas of Ukraine is completed. The box office receipts are 4,793,718 UAH. If we compare it with the top 10 Ukrainian films of 2023, it takes approximately the seventh position. This is a perfect result. Thanks to the FILM.UA, which organized the distribution of the movie in partnership with the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.
There are not so many women who stood at the head of states in the world history. Even less of them were leaders during wars and won.
Israel’s holding off an attack of Egypt and Syria in 1973 is comparable to the maximum to Ukraine’s current resistance to the Russian invasion. This has been noticed by Helen Mirren, who played the role of Golda Meir:
“You Ukrainians, more than anyone else, understand what an illegal invasion is — the Israelis had to repel it, otherwise the country would no longer exist. You are also now at a historical point. For both countries, for Israel then and for Ukraine now, it is an absolute struggle for survival.”
That’s probably why Golda movie played to full houses for five weeks. 26,217 people watched the movie during that time. At the same time, this is not the final result. There will be more premieres on the OTT platform and one of the national TV channels.
