Having recovered from the first shock after the Russian attack in 2022, all Jewish communities have already started working in the unoccupied territory of Ukraine. Moreover, the number of their members is even growing, noted Chief Rabbi of Kyiv and Ukraine Yaakov Dov Bleich at the #KyivJewishForum 2024.

“Almost all synagogues are definitely open on Shabbat and holidays. Communities are constantly attracting new people. I can say that in Kyiv, in the community where I am a rabbi, there are many new people. Indeed, there are a great many,” the Rabbi said.

At the same time, quite a number of Ukrainian Jews have made aliyah to Israel since 2022. Rabbi Bleich is currently dealing with providing the new repatriates with the maximum comfortable conditions of adaptation according to the principle: “To be in Israel, and feel as in Ukraine at the same time.”

Thank you Rabbi Bleich for this undoubtedly important mission and for everything you have been doing for the Ukrainian Jewish community for 25 years since the founding of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.
